High Line es un parque urbano en el oeste de Manhattan elevado construido sobre una antigua línea de ferrocarril de Nueva York.

La plataforma elevada dejó de utilizarse en 1980 y en 2003, 23 años más tarde, se comenzó a pensar en diversos usos de ésta. El proyecto fue terminado en 2014.

El High Line, en colaboración con James Corner Field Operations y Piet Oudolf, es un parque público nuevo de 1.5 millas de largo construido en un ferrocarril elevado abandonado que estira del districto Meatpacking al Hudson Rail Yrds en Manhattan.

The paving system consist of individual precast concrete planks with open joints to encourage emergent growth like wild grass through cracks in the sidewalk. The long paving units have tapered ends that comb into planting beds creating a textured, “pathless” lanscape where the public can meader in unscripted ways.

The park accommodates the wild, the cultivated, the intimidate, and the social. Acces points are durational experiences designed to prolong the transition from the frenetic pace of city streets to the slow otherworldly landscape above.
